Ingredients:

  • ½ cup soft salted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup butterscotch chips

Butterscotch Sauce:

  • ½ cup salted butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar 
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
  • Then add butter, sugar and brown sugar to the mixing bowl and cream until smooth.
  • Add flour and baking powder and shake until the joint.
  • Fold in butterscotch chips (put a small handful to sprinkle on top).
  • Spread an increased square (8 or 9 in) baking pan and fry for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick is inserted, it is not cleaned.
  • Let cool before biting in bars.
For butterscotch sauce:
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan on medium heat.
  • Add sugar and cream and shake well with wooden spoons until mixed.
  • Take the mixture in an abscess, reduce the heat and bring to a boil for about 5 minutes, stir frequently.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla. The sauce will thicken when cooled.
  • Serve hot on ice cream.
  • To store, cool the sauce in an airtight container.
